I was first drawn (pardon the pun) into the world of writing instruments 30 plus years ago as an intern with a defense contractor. Carol, who ran the test lab, introduced me to the supply drawers on my first day. Well, it turns out, she had been bitten by the pen bug! The drawers were chock-full of pens, mechanical pencils, markers and highlighters. I was amazed at all of the designs and functionality. My first goal was to try them all. It was at that point that I became a writing instrument enthusiast!
The best part of being a pen collector is the supply never ends. After all, who hasn't received a free pen as a promotional item? And, if you buy pens, they're mostly affordable, unless you seek out the high-end ones, which can be an intoxicating adventure.
I ended up working for a company in the promotional products business where I consistently received free samples for years! Every time I got a new pen, I'd brandish it during meetings and down the halls. My colleagues got a kick out of my analyses (weight, length, manufacturer, color, cap, clip....) yet took my reviews to heart. I became the Pen Influencer of the company.
Whenever my friends and family go anywhere, I always say, "Bring me a pen!" You'd be amazed at how often a new pen comes my way.
It's these dear friends, colleagues and family that have encouraged me to write my next chapter in life through this business. I'll share my reviews, appraise your writing instruments, and provide information. But, I'm most looking forward to those who Pen Me A Note to share our love of all things writing!
